Abstract

This study aims to map and analyze the development of Maqashid Sharia research in the context of Islamic finance using a bibliometric approach. Data were collected from 980 articles through the Publish or Perish software and analyzed using VOSviewer for visualization and network analysis. Based on predefined criteria, 15 articles from Scopus, EBSCO dan SINTA were selected for in-depth review. The analysis reveals fluctuating publication trends from 2020 to 2024, with a peak in 2022. Cluster analysis identified three dominant themes: (1) conceptual foundations of Maqashid Sharia, (2) its practical implementation in Islamic banking, and (3) empirical studies evaluating its influence on the performance of Islamic financial institutions. A significant trend observed is the gradual shift from theoretical discourse to practical applications, especially in countries like Indonesia and Malaysia. This reflects a growing interest in aligning Islamic financial practices with broader ethical, social, and sustainability goals. The study not only enriches the academic discourse on Maqashid Sharia but also offers practical insights for policymakers and practitioners aiming to integrate Islamic ethical principles into financial systems. Moreover, it opens new research avenues in areas such as Islamic social reporting and ESG integration guided by Maqashid Sharia.
