Abstract

Leadership in student organizations at Islamic higher education institutions requires the ability to integrate Islamic values into leadership practices. However, studies examining the process of integrating these values remain limited. This study aims to analyze the interpretation of Islamic values, the forms of value integration in leadership practices, and the dynamics of their implementation within student organizations at the Faculty of Islamic Studies and Civilization, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design, utilizing in-depth interviews, documentation, and observations involving five student organization leaders. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The findings reveal that the participants interpreted Islamic leadership based on the values of amanah (trustworthiness), shura (consultation), honesty, justice, and exemplary conduct. These values were integrated into leadership practices through consultative decision-making, role modeling, organizational culture, work programs, and transparency, while their implementation was influenced by various enabling and constraining factors. The study proposes a conceptual model for integrating Islamic values into student organizational leadership, consisting of three stages: value interpretation, integration into leadership practices, and implementation dynamics. This model contributes to the advancement of Islamic leadership scholarship, particularly within the context of student organizations.
