Implementation Of The Tahfidz Al Qur'an Program In An Effort For Forming Character In Elementary School Students

The purpose of education is to help students grow both spiritually and personally. In this context, the Government of Jombang Regency launched the "5000 Hafidz Al-Qur'an Juz 30 Movement," which lasted for seven months and successfully graduated 1,166 elementary and Islamic elementary school students in 2023. The first graduation ceremony for this program was held on January 7, 2023, at the Jombang Regent's Hall. This study aims to analyze the implementation mechanism, effectiveness, and impact of the Tahfidz Al-Qur'an program in shaping students' character. The research employs a qualitative approach through interviews and observations. The findings indicate that each educational institution applies its own Quran memorization methods based on internal policies while still referring to the guidelines established by the regional government. The program has proven to have a positive influence on students' character, fostering attitudes such as politeness, honesty, and responsibility. Character development is a gradual process that requires consistency, as reflected in students' habitual religious practices, such as performing Dhuha and Dhuhr prayers. Therefore, the Tahfidz program is expected to remain a strategic effort in shaping a morally upright generation and bringing blessings to the Jombang community.
