Abstract

Learning the yellow book plays a central role in shaping the scientific and spiritual identity of Islamic education in Indonesia. However, two major obstacles often arise: low interest in learning and a lack of in-depth understanding of the contents of the yellow book. To overcome these challenges, effective learning methods, such as the wetonan method, have been successfully used at the Sabilul Muttaqin Islamic Boarding School in Pungging, Mojokerto. This study aims to identify strategies for learning the yellow book using the Wetonan method and explore the obstacles and supporting factors in its implementation. Using a qualitative approach and descriptive research, data were obtained through interviews, observations, and document collection from students and teachers at the Sabilul Muttaqin Islamic Boarding School. The results show that the Wetonan method can increase students' interest in learning, understanding of the contents of the yellow book, and skills in analyzing and interpreting texts. This makes learning the yellow book more effective and stimulates interest and deeper understanding among students. This research has a broad impact on the development of more innovative and adaptive learning methods in various Islamic educational institutions, including the Sabilul Muttaqin Islamic Boarding School, and represents a concrete step toward solving problems in the teaching of the yellow books.
