Abstract

Until now, reading activities in Early Childhood Education are still pros and cons, but the curriculum unit for grade 1 elementary school that has been set by the government can only be followed by children who are already fluent in reading. In practice in the field, many early childhood children do not yet have good abilities to recognize letters and read, so various efforts need to be made to improve these abilities while still paying attention to the stages of cognitive and psychological development of children. The learning method used in this study is by using flash cards. This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of using flash cards to improve the ability to recognize letters and read in early childhood. Based on the research conducted, it can be concluded that the flash card learning method can improve children's recognize letters and read ability.
