Peer Rreview Process
Manuscript Review Policies and Procedures
The editors are responsible for determining the reviewer for each manuscript received. In selecting reviewers, the editors consider the reviewer's academic competence and experience, recommendations from the author and other editors, and the reviewer's track record in manuscript evaluation, including previous experience reviewing articles for Qistara: Jurnal Hukum Ekonomi Syariah.
Every submitted manuscript undergoes an initial review process conducted by at least one editor. This stage aims to ensure that the manuscript meets the journal's editorial policy requirements and minimum quality standards. Manuscripts deemed to meet these requirements will then be sent to at least two reviewers for more in-depth evaluation.
Qistara: Jurnal Hukum Ekonomi Syariah implements, a blind peer review system, a peer review process that maintains the confidentiality of the authors' identities from the reviewers. Therefore, manuscripts submitted for review must not include any information that could identify the authors, including names, affiliations, or other information that could reveal the authors' identities. These provisions also apply to other parts of the manuscript, such as references, figures, tables, and other information.
The review process is conducted to provide an objective and competent academic evaluation of the submitted manuscript. In addition to providing an assessment, reviewers can also provide constructive suggestions and recommendations to help authors improve the quality of the substance, methodology, presentation, and scientific contribution of the article.
Each manuscript will be evaluated based on several key aspects, namely:
1. Originality of the scientific work, including elements of novelty and the article's contribution to the development of science.
2. Suitability of the methodology to the research topic and objectives, so that the methods used can support the achievement of the research objectives.
3. Quality of analysis, including the accuracy of the processing, discussion, interpretation, and presentation of research results.
4. Quality of scientific communication with readers, including systematic writing, clarity of language, argumentation, and the understandability of the article's content.
5. Reviewer recommendations, which are one of the factors considered by the editor in making the final decision on the manuscript.
The initial screening and evaluation process for manuscripts normally takes between four and eight weeks, starting from the time the manuscript is received by the journal. This process time may vary depending on the complexity of the article, the availability of reviewers, and the need for revisions.
Manuscripts submitted to Qistara: Jurnal Hukum Ekonomi Syariah may be written in either Indonesian or English. However, manuscripts accepted for publication must be presented in English in accordance with the journal's publication requirements.
Review Decision
Based on the evaluation results, the reviewers can make one of the following recommendations:
1. Accepted
The manuscript is deemed to meet the journal's scientific and editorial standards and is suitable for publication without substantial revision.
2. Accepted with Revisions (Minor/Major Revision)
The manuscript is deemed suitable for publication, but the author is required to make improvements in accordance with the notes and recommendations provided by the reviewers. Revisions can be minor or major, depending on the level of improvement required.
3. Resubmitted for Review
The manuscript requires significant revisions, so after revisions, it will need to undergo another review process before it can be considered for publication.
4. Decline/Rejection
The manuscript is deemed not to meet the journal's scientific, methodological, or editorial requirements or has fundamental issues that prevent it from being considered for publication.
The final decision regarding the manuscript will be communicated to the author after thorough evaluation and editorial consideration. This decision, including any notes or comments from the Editor-in-Chief (EIC), will generally be communicated to the author within approximately three to six months of the manuscript's receipt. During this period, the manuscript remains under evaluation and editorial decision-making.
Authors are expected to wait until this time limit before submitting questions regarding the manuscript's progress. If an editorial decision has not been made after three months from the submission date, the author can contact the editor for information regarding the progress.
