Abstract

Guidance and counseling become facilitators to overcome obstacles and problems faced by students, so that the ability of BK teachers in determining theories and techniques in counseling will determine the success of guidance and counseling in the scope of education. As is the case with anxiety and phobias that are currently experienced by many students, this has an impact on the learning process and daily life. There are several theories and techniques that can be chosen by counselors to deal with cases of anxiety and phobias, one of which is the systematic desensitization technique. The limitations of counselors in obtaining information about the application of systematic desensitization in the educational sphere make it necessary to conduct a literature study related to the application of systematic desensitization techniques in the educational sphere. This study aims to describe the application of systematic desensitization within the school environment so that counseling practitioners can use it as a reference for implementing a technique in counseling. The method used by the researcher is a library research method. In this study, data were collected using the documentation method and analyzed using content analysis techniques. In an effort to prevent misinformation and maintain the accuracy of the assessment in library research, inter-library checks and literature rereads are carried out. The results of this study are the compilation of a study on the application of systematic desensitization techniques in the scope of education that refers to national journals and international books, namely: 1) Based on the results of a study of 20 journal articles on the application of systematic desensitization techniques in the scope of education, successfully assisting counselees in several problems, 2 ) Procedures and steps for systematic desensitization techniques are carried out using various methods such as relaxation, imagery, construction of a hierarchy of anxiety, conditioning, and combining it with other techniques from behavioristics, 3) Scope and application of systematic desensitization techniques within the scope of education from junior high school level to universities with individual or group targets.
