When an allegation of misconduct is received, the Editorial Office will conduct a preliminary assessment to determine whether the claim has sufficient evidence. If necessary, the Editor-in-Chief may request clarification, supporting documentation, or an explanation from the corresponding author and other relevant parties. If research misconduct is confirmed, the journal may take one or more of the following actions:

  • Notify the authors' affiliated institution or research sponsor when appropriate.
  • Suspend future submissions from the responsible author(s) for a specified period.
  • Take any additional action considered appropriate in accordance with COPE guidelines.

All investigations are conducted confidentially, objectively, fairly, and without discrimination. The journal ensures that authors are given an opportunity to respond to allegations before a final decision is made.
