FATAWA: Jurnal Pendidikan Agama Islam recognizes that Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies can support academic writing, language editing, data analysis, and research productivity. However, the journal emphasizes that AI tools cannot replace human intellectual responsibility in conducting and reporting scholarly research. Authors remain fully accountable for the originality, accuracy, integrity, and ethical standards of all submitted manuscripts.
Authors may use AI-assisted technologies (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Grammarly, or similar tools) only to improve language quality, readability, translation, or other editorial aspects of a manuscript. AI tools may also assist with coding or data organization when appropriately supervised by the authors. However, all AI-generated content must be carefully reviewed, verified, and edited by the authors before submission.
If AI tools have been used in preparing the manuscript, authors must disclose this use in the Acknowledgements or Methods section by specifying:
Failure to disclose significant AI assistance may be considered a breach of publication ethics.
Artificial Intelligence tools do not meet the criteria for authorship. Therefore, AI systems or software must not be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot take responsibility for the content, approve the final manuscript, or assume accountability for published work.
The editorial office may use AI-assisted tools to support administrative tasks, such as plagiarism screening, language assessment, reference checking, or reviewer recommendations. Nevertheless, all editorial decisions, peer-review evaluations, and publication decisions are made exclusively by human editors and reviewers.
Authors must ensure that AI-generated content does not contain fabricated information, inaccurate references, manipulated images, falsified data, or misleading statements. The journal reserves the right to reject manuscripts that rely excessively on AI-generated content or violate standards of academic integrity and research ethics.
This policy is consistent with internationally recognized principles of responsible scholarly publishing and supports the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence in advancing research in Islamic Religious Education (Pendidikan Agama Islam).
